As a first timer, the employees customer service, knowledge, and patience was excellent. I was not expecting this great treatment. The employee basically gave us a tour of the menu and samples. The food was good value and price. I'm a curry lover, so I ate curry chicken & curry shrimp. The shrimp was curry enough for me but the Angry Jerk sauce kind of “saved the day”. Clean establishment inside and out There's a park outside for toddlers and children to run around while you enjoy your food outdoors. I'll return if I'm within 20 mins of the area, other than that I may go to other jamaican spots. Based on google reviews, I came from DC to Columbia vs the other 2 locations and I'm glad I did, especially with my family. Downside: They didn't have any more utensils, so I walked across to Busboys & Poets for some. There are a lot of Lantern Flies in this area. I have never experienced so many in my life.

I have been having issues with my taste buds for awhile now due to some medications so I have been trying different types of cuisines to see what hits. So we tried a new place called the Angry Jerk. It will be a year in November since they have opened. It is kind of like a Chipotle style but with the Caribbean flavor and offering. Now my taste buds are in no shape to be an accurate judge of anything these days so take that with a grain of salt. We tried several types including a bowl with ox tail and a platter with half a chicken. Everything was good but the chicken was a little on the dry side for me. It could just have been the breast but I could not fully embrace the texture. My wife loved their green sauce and enjoyed it very much as she likes her meat like her humor-dry. But then, she tasted my Angry Angry sauce and let me tell you, if you can handle the heat, the flavor is crazy. She started mixing the 2 sauces and couldn’t stop talking about it. Yeah it was that good. The service was great and we had a terrific time. The only real disappointment was they were not ready to serve alcohol. Red Stripe looked like they were ready but hopefully by next visit, my taste buds as well as the alcohol situation is resolved. We did try some island sodas and they were delicious. Definitely had a great time.

Angry Jerk was delicious for lunch. Located in the newly built development of Merriweather Columbia. The food tastes good. The chef has mastered the taste of Caribbean island season and spices to give that authentic flavor. The place is clean. My visit was during the weekday so the place was not busy. It truly imitates the Chipotle style but in a Caribbean flavor. Your choice of building your bowl was my option. I got the noodles and rice and peas with the curry chick peas and stew chicken. I complimented my order roasted sweet potatoes corn and coslaw on the side. Our send bowl was the shredded oxtails bowl. It was great. My only big concern is that bowls aren't full with food portion size is small. However, the atmosphere is great inside and outside.

We first visited this place right after it opened, and unfortunately, the food didn’t meet expectations. It was bland and not worth the price. However, we decided to give it another try, and wow, what a transformation! It felt like a completely different restaurant. Everything we tried this time was absolutely delicious. The shrimp bowl was fresh, well-seasoned, and flavorful. The Angry Angry sauce packed a perfect punch of heat, and the Mumbo sauce delicious. They also have some fantastic late-night specials that we’ll definitely keep in mind. It’s such a treat to have a place where we can enjoy healthy, tasty food without breaking the bank. The staff was friendly, efficient, and made our experience even better. If this level of quality and service continues, we’ll definitely be regulars.

After my 3rd visit, I finally decided to do a review. I had been to the Dupont Circle location before the Merriweather location was open, and I must say that I was already hooked. The Merriweather location is much bigger and more inviting than the Dupont Circle location, but unfortunately the Merriweather location doesn't have fountain drinks (with the best Ginger Beer I've ever tasted), like the Dupont Circle location does. However, the food is equally delicious, and the service is just as excellent. I've had the Oxtails Platter, and I've had Bowls with Oxtail Pulled Beef and Brown Stew Chicken. The Angry Mac & Cheese, the Rice & Peas, the cabbage were all wonderful. I also had the corn, the sweet potatoes, the cauliflower and the mango-pineapple salsa, all of which were great. Lastly, the Rum Cake was incredible, although a bit overpriced at $8 for a small piece.

A nice restaurant located in the Merriweather area of Columbia.. Great serve. The waiter at the counter explained everything to us. We ordered the jerk chicken, cabbage, plantains, peas and rice, with sweet spicy sauce. Finished off with a Ting and Ginger beer. Large portions. Forgot to check to see if there was Coco bread. Maybe, next time Would highly recommend. Very tasty.

Night of new years. We came in from the cold into the warmth of this restaurant and it was genuinely a great experience. We entered and they immediately offered us food on the house. They have humble hearts full of humility. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I 100% recommend!
